kelli gave a tedxperth talk in 2017, and they’ve just released it online!
Our employers, our governments and the media say they want us to participate, but do they really? Do they want us truly owning the process, or do they really just want us to be pliant? Kelli McCluskey’s funny and disarming talk shows us what fake participation looks like and how we need to demand better, more meaningful involvement in our society.
TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. TEDxPerth is where x = independently organised TED event. TEDxPerth aims to be a beacon for all that is remarkable, challenging and thought-provoking in Perth, and to both celebrate and raise the intellectual ambition and culture of Western Australia.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organised (subject to certain rules and regulations).
