this is the time… this is the record of the time

pvi’s ten-year birthday celebration and some of the finest experimental performance work from around the country in one dizzying night

about this is the time… this is the record of the time

as part of pvi collective’s ten year birthday celebrations, artrage, cia studios and pica hosted a unique cross-platform event which brought together some of the most innovative and radical hybrid performance practitioners around the country to debate, demystify and showcase interdisciplinary art as part of a new wave of live art culture in australia.

this is the time…this is the record of the time brought together creative comrades whose work challenged, inspired and pushed the boundaries of contemporary performance.

perth institute of contemporary art [pica] hosted a two day symposium with visiting artists and producers from across australia, exploring key characteristics of hybrid performance including audience interaction, public intervention & collaboration. the symposium encouraged criticality and discovering common ground emerging from a new wave of live art culture in australia.

it marked a period of time where the experimental performance spectrum was expanding and evolving into new and undefined territories of creativity and risk taking. show and tell sessions by contributing artists reviewed and highlighted some key interdisciplinary performance based projects that took place in australia over the past few preceding years.

to coincide with the symposium, pvi co-curated a one-off event for the bakery artrage complex. for one night only artists involved in the symposium presented short extracts of existing or new works in-progress. this was a unique opportunity to experience some of the finest experimental performance work from around the country over one dizzying night.
