13 September 2018

one australian artist will get to spend six weeks in the uk with blast theory

Blast Theory and pvi collective are excited to announce that applications are open for their international residency program, made possible through the Australia Council for the Arts.

This unique research and development residency offers one Australian artist the opportunity to spend six weeks in residence with Blast Theory in their studio in Brighton, UK. The companies aim to support artists working in similar fields and to strengthen the sector as a whole through mentorship and critical feedback.

The residency acknowledges the natural synergies between the two companies and supports pvi collective’s remit to develop opportunities for artists within the experimental sector to develop both their practice and their professional experience.

The residency will provide studio space and uninterrupted time for residents to research and develop a new work in a supported environment. There will be scheduled mentoring sessions, and a collegial platform to crash test ideas with like-minded thinkers and makers.

Both companies strive to provide a warm, welcoming and creative environment and will look to tailor support in relation to the successful applicant’s needs.

The successful applicant will receive $7,200 towards the cost of their return international flight, travel within the UK, travel insurance and living expenses for six weeks. Accommodation is provided in Blast Theory’s studio.
