pvi collective supports student strike for climate action

9 September 2019

#artstrikewa

arts organisations and workers will add their voices to the worldwide climate strike action on Friday 20th September.

pvi collective is adding our name and voice to the long list of local artists and companies who are downing tools and taking part in the public rally in perth’s city centre.

we join with the students leading the Global Climate Strike and will not stand by as political inaction threatens our communities, livelihoods and the planet we share.

our culture and institutions cannot survive the global crises that will follow a failure to act. it is also very clear that we can no longer defer action to government, environmental industries or specialists.

alongside many of our colleagues and contemporaries we join in the demand for no new coal, oil and gas projects, including the Adani mine; net zero emissions and 100% renewable energy generation and exports by 2030; immediate funding for a just transition and job creation for fossil-fuel industry workers and communities.

concurrently we also recognise that the arts is a challenging sector to work in. we acknowledge that many of our colleagues and friends, especially those with performances scheduled, may not be able to respond in the same way at this time.

we encourage all arts organisations and arts workers to respond in the way that best suits their unique circumstances.

pvi collective will be closed on Friday 20th September.
