daley king’s ‘lipstuck’ shortlisted for midsumma art prize

daley king’s performance work lipstuck has been short listed for a the midsumma and australia post art award.

lipstick was developed through KIss club, an initiative run by pvi collective and the perth institute of contemporary arts. daley performed a section of the work at two sold-out nights of kiss club in 2019.

the prize is now In its fifth year, highlighting a selection of queer artists from across the country showcase their personal and political perspectives of the world.

Featuring early career and established artists working across mediums, finalists are eligible for the Major Award of $6000 and People’s Choice Award of $1000 provided by Australia Post as well as the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre residency/exhibition award. The finalists’ artwork are available to the public for viewing and voting during Midsumma for the People’s Choice award.

the midsumma festival is victoria’s premiere lgbtiq arts event. spread over 22 days of summer, the festival program is made up of diverse art forms and genres, including visual arts, live music, theatre, spoken word, cabaret, film, parties, sport, social events, and public forums.

Featuring over 175 events in 2020, with involvement by over 5000 culture-makers in over 80 different venues across Melbourne and wider Victoria.
