as part of pvi collective’s ten year birthday celebrations, artrage, cia studios and pica hosted a unique cross-platform event which brings together some of the most innovative and radical hybrid performance practitioners around the country to debate, demystify and showcase interdisciplinary art as part of a new wave of live art culture in australia.
‘this is the time…this is the record of the time’ aims to bring together creative comrades whose work challenges, inspires and pushes the boundaries of contemporary performance.
perth institute of contemporary art [pica] hosts a two day symposium with visiting artists and producers from across australia, exploring key characteristics of hybrid performance including audience interaction, public intervention & collaboration. the symposium will look to encourage criticality and discover common ground emerging from a new wave of live art culture in australia.
aiming to mark a period of time whereby the experimental performance spectrum is expanding and evolving into new and undefined territories of creativity and risk taking. show and tell sessions by contributing artists will review and highlight some key interdisciplinary performance based projects that have taken place in australia over the past few years.
to coincide with the symposium pvi have co-curated a one-off event for the bakery artrage complex. for one night only artists involved in the symposium will present short extracts of existing or new works in-progress. this is a unique opportunity to experience some of the finest experimental performance work from around the country over one dizzying night.
