during a 3 month visual arts residency in taiwan, pvi developed a ‘privacy service‘ for members of the public by constructing a shielding sphere using domestic umbrellas. citizens were offered the opportunity to travel in privacy in the densely surveilled & monitored underground rail network.
this postcard series [a series of five] takes the bubble-like umbrella construction above ground to seminal tourist spots through out the city.

the panopticon postcard series is an asialink project in partnership with the australian network for art and technology, in exchange with the taipei artists village, and supported by arts wa and the australia council.
